Vaginal Cosmetic Procedures

LVR™ (Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation™)

Vaginal Rejuvenation is a cosmetic surgical procedure that is used to re-tighten the vaginal muscles and reshape the outer appearance of the vaginal area. The surgical tightening of the vaginal muscles and the outer contouring of the labia (labiaplasty) are combined in this procedure to give an overall new, more youthful appearance and feel to the whole vaginal area.

What is vaginal rejuvenation?

Vaginoplasty is an out-patient surgical procedure that usually takes 1-2 hours, during which the lining of the vagina is contoured and the muscles and soft tissues are tightened. The procedure improves the appearance of the vagina and reduces the consequences of childbirth, aging, and strenuous exercise.

If you suffer from any of the following, you may consider vaginal rejuvenation surgery:

  • Feeling loose
  • Having a large vaginal opening
  • Unable to feel your partner during sexual intercourse – lack of friction or sensation
  • Difficulty achieving orgasm
  • Embarrassing vaginal noises during physical activity and intercourse
  • Inability to use tampons
  • Vaginal prolapse

There are three ways to make an appointment with Dr. Walker:

Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty surgically improves the appearance of the labia. The long labia minor, or outer folds of the vagina, are sometimes naturally uneven or long, or can become misshapen due to childbirth. Woman often feel self-conscious of the appearance of their labia and many woman notice interference or pain due to irregular labia shape during intercourse or when they exercise. The aesthetically pleasing results are usually permanent but the procedure may need to be repeated if a patient has subsequent vaginal deliveries or experiences significant weight gain or loss.

What can I expect after surgery?

Mild discomfort, swelling and bruising are most common. However, the discomfort is easily controlled with pain medication. Expect full recovery after four to six weeks.

If you suffer from any of the following due to large labia, you may consider making an appointment today with Dr. Walker:

  • Discomfort during sexual intercourse
  • Pain or discomfort during exercise
  • Inability to sit in certain positions
  • Inability to wear specific articles of clothing – tight filling pants and swimsuits

The most appropriate patients are healthy, maintain a healthy weight, and are done having children.

Clitoral Hood Reduction

Clitoroplexy, or clitoral hood reduction, surgically alters the appearance and prominence of the overly wide, projected, or long clitoris. Some women are self-conscious of, or experience discomfort from, a protruding or large clitoris and might find that intimate encounters or sitting, exercising, or wearing certain clothing is embarrassing or uncomfortable.

What is the procedure like?

Clitoral hood reduction is a relatively simple, outpatient procedure performed under general anesthesia. During the procedure, the excess tissue is removed or incised to allow for the clitoris to be more easily stimulated. Clitoral hood reduction surgery is often combined with labiaplasty and vaginal rejuvenation surgery also known as vaginoplasty.

What can I expect after the surgery?

Mild discomfort is expected, but easily managed with oral pain medications. Bed rest is recommended for the first day or two after surgery, but patients can return to work and resume more activities within days.

Am I a candidate for clitoral hood reduction?

Dr. Christy Walker is highly skilled and qualified to determine if you are an appropriate candidate for clitoral hood reduction surgery. If you have extra tissue surrounding your clitoris and you feel that it impacts your quality of life or your intimate relationships, you might be a candidate for clitoral hood reduction.

Hymenoplasty

Hymenoplasty is the surgical reconstruction of the hymen. The hymen can tear naturally through physical activity or through sexual intercourse. There is no medical reason to repair a torn hymen, although women often desire hymenoplasty for cultural reasons. Additionally, some women chose hymenoplasty as a part of the healing process after sexual assault or rape, or to metaphorically reclaim virginity.

What is hymenoplasty?

Hymenoplasty is the surgical reconnection of the hymen membrane that exists inside the vagina. This membrane can tear or break completely from sexual intercourse, exercise, or tampon use. The tissue is reattached using small, dissolvable sutures (stitches) and leaves no detectable scarring.

What is recovery like after hymenoplasty?

The surgery is performed under local anesthesia and patients recover quickly. You are able to return to work after a day or two. Expect to avoid sexual situations, strenuous exercise, and tampon use for six weeks postoperatively.

I am interested in hymen repair, what should I do next?

If you are interested in hymen repair for any of the above reasons or for a reason that is personal to you, contact Dr. Christy Walker today for a consultation and to discuss your options.

Pubic Lift

A pubic lift surgically removes extra fat and skin of the mons pubis, the soft, rounded area over the pubic region. With age, after childbirth, or due to weight gain or extreme weight loss, the soft padded area over the pubic bone can become large and appear bulged. This can make woman very self-conscious. During a pubic lift, the fat and extra skin is removed and tightened. Women often desire this extra fat and tissue to be removed, usually along with a tummy tuck to smooth out this area in order to look and feel more confident naked and in tight-fitting clothing.

What is expected during a pubic lift?

This procedure is performed under general anesthesia in a surgical facility. Usually, liposuction is used on this area of the body to remove extra fat deposits. The additional skin caused by age and sagging is then removed as well.

What is recovery like after a pubic lift?

As with any surgery, patients can expect mild discomfort that is controlled with pain medications, and mild swelling and bruising around the surgical area. Bed rest is necessary the day of surgery, but patients can return to normal activities after a few days.

Is a pubic lift right for me?

Dr. Christy Walker is skilled in understanding the desires and needs of women who choose to modify their bodies and boost their confidence through cosmetic surgery. Not everyone is a candidate for a public lift. Dr. Walker will be able to evaluate your individual needs and help determine what is right for you.
