Don’t Put Off Procedures

Are you considering a cosmetic surgery procedure but have been putting it off because you’re worried about the recovery time? You may be surprised to find that because of today’s technology and surgical techniques, recovery times are much shorter than ever before. Dr. Christy Walker, a dual-board-certified cosmetic surgeon and gynecologist in Plano, Texas, offers state-of-the-art procedures to minimize your recovery time and get you back to your regular schedule quickly.

One of the procedures you may be thinking about it is the Brazilian Butt-Lift, also known as BBL. This modern bottom-enhancing procedure has significant benefits over conventional silicone butt implant surgery. This is because the BBL is minimally invasive and does not require surgical incisions like the implant procedure. As a result, healing time is much faster, but there are a few fine points about the BBL recovery you should know:

  • Right after your procedure, expect to have some bruising and swelling.
  • Getting up and moving around will help to increase circulation to the treated area, which can maximize your results.
  • You may also experience some pain, which can be managed with prescription pain relievers or over-the-counter medications.
  • Fluid may drain from the incision points in the harvest and treatment areas, but usually resolve within a few days after surgery.
  • You will need to wear a compression garment for several weeks after the procedure. This helps to reduce excess fluid and minimize swelling.
  • You will not be able to sit directly on your buttocks for several weeks after your BBL procedure and will need to use a pillow or inflatable doughnut. Sitting directly on your buttocks or putting pressure on your bottom can damage your results and could leave you with an uneven backside.
  • Also, avoid lying on your back during sleep. Instead, sleep on your stomach to avoid putting pressure on your buttocks.
  • You should avoid high-intensity exercise such as cardio, cross-fit and weightlifting for at least four weeks and resume light activity after being cleared by Dr. Walker. Absolutely no squats until you are cleared.
